Why Panama?
We have been building and marketing quality forestry tools for almost 70 years. Our customers include the US Forest Service, state forestry commissions, timber companies, landowners, and consulting foresters. Following is a list of reasons why we think our drip torch is superior to any other torch made.
The PANAMA Drip Torch has been DOT qualified to carry flammable liquids and meets the requirements for Packing Group II liquids listed in 49 CFR 178.605. The PANAMA torch is constructed of 22 GA. stainless steel. This not only produces a drip torch that weighs only 4 ¾ pounds empty, but stainless steel is extremely resistant to wear AND the abuse it receives in holders and in the back of pickup trucks. The torch has a 2 ¼ inch filler neck opening which means no more hunting for a funnel and no more spilled fuel when it is time to refuel the torch. The torch can be refilled without having to handle a hot burner. The large opening also permits the standard 12-inch burner to be stored inside the tank. The tank capacity is 1-3/8 gallons. Fuel flow is controlled by a brass-regulating valve that precisely controls the fuel flow to the burner--not pre-determined by a nozzle size. This is important because not all backfiring operations require the same amount of fuel flow. The regulating valve also allows the fuel flow to be completely shut off without having to put a hot and sometimes nasty burner down into the fuel; therefore, it's a much safer torch for the operator and there is less chance of debris off the burner stopping the burner nozzle. The torch also has a brass screw-type vent valve large enough to be operated with gloves on.
The PANAMA Drip Torch is supplied with your choice of one of three burner lengths, all at the same cost. The standard 12-inch burner will fit inside the tank. We also offer a 15' or 19' burner. These longer burners are useful when the operator is trying to backfire across a wide fire lane or out of the back of a vehicle. The burners have a safety loop close to the tank to prevent flashbacks and are streamlined to minimize tangling in the brush. The long lasting burner wick is economical to replace, and, compared to other brands, costs about 1/3 as much. The burner has a removable nozzle in case trash in the fuel stops up the nozzle.
Thank you for using a PANAMA Drip Torch. We think it will quickly become obvious why PANAMA is the best torch on the market. If you need further information, please feel free to call us. We look forward to future opportunities to be of service.
